Hi...My name is Jim Kessler. I have worked for a health plan in Springfield, Massachusetts (Health New England...usually known as "HNE") for over 15 years. For seven years before I came to HNE, I worked for two other health plans in and around Massachusetts.
Health insurance in Massachusetts has just been "reformed" and it seems like it's more complicated than ever. With or without insurance, getting health care and staying healthy has never been simple. I thought it was worth a try to share some of what I've learned about it with anyone who's interested, and I've recruited some co-workers, friends and relations to help out. Although most of the contributors to this blog work for HNE, anything we say here is our own opinion and not an "official" statement by our employer.
The topics I'll try to cover will include health insurance, health policy, ways to understand and work with the health care system and general health and wellness information. I'll also try to include links to other related blogs and web sites.
I may not succeed in piercing much of the fog around all of those issues, but as I said a moment ago, it's worth a try! If you read this, please pass on any questions that you have....
